Giant Purple Elephant Serendipity (alocasia)
Alocasias, commonly seen in both indoor and outdoor settings, are popular due to their minimal care requirements. These aroids are often cultivated as unique tropical houseplants, or introduced to outdoor environments in temperate climates. Their preference for moisture-rich soil dense in organic matter and filtered sunlight contributes to their successful growth. Alocasias are versatile, thriving in containers or as striking landscape plants. Indoor cultivation works well with temperatures between 55° and 80°F, and they can adapt to lower light conditions compared to other houseplants. When planted in the ground, Alocasias can grow significantly larger, differing greatly from their potted counterparts, thereby adding a tropical element to any well-lit indoor or outdoor space. In colder climates, Alocasias can be relocated indoors during winter to prevent frost damage. Upon acquisition, there is no immediate need to replant an Alocasia; it can be kept in its original pot in a shaded area while a suitable permanent location is sought.

Our plants are grown in conditions akin to a natural, humid rainforest, using minimal pesticides. Occasional leaf drop, spotting, or browning, especially in varieties with significant white, are normal. In our nursery, plants thrive under 40-80% shade cloth. If grown outdoors, direct exposure to full sun may cause leaf burn. We suggest gradually introducing the plants to sunny areas over a week or so to reduce stress for optimal results. Despite our high standards in plant propagation, we can't assure future variegation patterns, coloration, survival or growth rate. Individual plants may vary, even though our mother plants have thrived for over 20 years. We guarantee all variegation is natural without any Chemically Induced Variegation (NO C.I.V.)
